Mother’s Day, it’s origins

Mother’s Day has a very interesting history.  It’s modern incarnation started in America by a lady founder called, Anna Jarvis.  She started the day as an anti war movement promoting peace.  The day was later taken up by President Wilson and began officially in 1914, celebrating mother’s and giving gifts.

The day is now celebrated globally in many countries such as, the United Kingdom, India and China.

Interestingly, in Ancient Greece and during Roman times there were also festivities celebrating motherhood.
